Digital Heroes Summer Courses, Summer 2021

Our online courses for Digital Heroes took place for two weeks in July 2021. Digijeunes led two, two week workshops on the subjects of E-Textiles and Digital music making.

Over Zoom, participants met each evening, for a one hour technical session. This session presented the knowledge required to complete any activities or tasks assigned to the participants which were completed the following day.

Led by Chloe, the first group focused on E-Textiles and explored;
➡ How to make circuit components using textiles
➡ How to create wearable items with integrated electronics
➡ How to use Arduino: an introduction to programming
➡ Several different design challenges which integrate a programmed Arduino with E-Textile techniques and components.

The second group, led by Simone, focused on Digital Music Making. This course involved exploring;
➡ How to make sounds with electronics
➡ How to build interactive musical instruments
➡ Several design challenges which will involve programming and electronic prototyping

All the resources and information for the courses were hosted by Small academies online platform: Huge Academy. This Summer, our partner organisations for the Digital Heroes project, also provided six other online courses on a range of digital subjects including:
➡ Augmented and Virtual reality
➡ Robotics
➡ Digital Fabrication
➡ Toy Hacking
➡ Programming
We hope to be able to share all the resources and activities we used during these sessions, online through our website’s tutorial page.
